Gavin Brown’s Enterprise, New York City:
We transformed a 5000 sq/ft parking garage into Gavin Brown’s art gallery all within a three month time period and on a strictly low budget. The façade was simply altered with paint, a text piece by Martin Creed as well as new windows based on a modular design. There was great attention to the proportion of the spaces and how the project space ‘slipped’ into the main exhibition area. Custom furniture was design for the reception area. The viewing room, offices and art storage were customized to the need of the Enterprise. A delicate balance between incandescent, fluorescent and natural light was articulated by the specific location of lighting, windows and walls.
